Latest on this project is that the new draft is completed and I am currently getting feedback from fellow screenwriters. First report from Carol Cooper concludes: "A cracking read. I loved the characters and setting; the pacing is great; it romps along nicely and the story is compelling. It's got a lot of warmth and humour, is very feelgood and the central character leaps out the page at you – you're gunning for her, whatever her decisions."
Gabriella Rossi is a great detective - thorough, dedicated, obsessive compulsive, a clean freak... OK she's not a great detective but she's a good one. When you come from the messed up Rossi family you're bound to come away with a few faults - and there's nobody better than Detective Gabriella Rossi at going undercover. So when another undercover cop is badly beaten up while posing as a Maitre D' at a family restaurant in Hoboken she would be the obvious person to take his place and find out if mob money is being run through the joint. There are only three problems: Her partner Ricky has been chosen to go undercover. They only hire male Maitre D's. The restaurant is run by Gabriella's own hopelessly disfunctional family. Gabriella's solution? She goes undercover, changing sex and becoming Antonio Di Collobiano - the perfect Maitre D'. He's Polite, welcoming, attentive - and on a mission to solve the crime, sort out a neurotic family, save the restaurant and pull Pete the handsome waiter.
